ROLL OF NTA IN NEET

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI), has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous and self – sustained premier organization

The Objectives of NTA

  • To conduct efficient, transparent and international standard tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission
  • To undertake research on educational, professional and testing system to identify gaps in the knowledge systems and take steps for bridging them.
  • To identify experts and institutions in setting examination questions.
  • To produce and disseminate information and research on education and professional development standards.

The Responsibility of NTA is Limited to the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of result and providing All India Rank to the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

NEET UG 2025 Entrance Test DATE

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially scheduled the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 for May 4, 2025. The examination will be in pen-and-paper format from 2:00 PM to 5 PM (IST). The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test NEET (UG) –2025 will be conducted as per the regulations of the National Medical Commission Act-2019, Indian Medical Council Act-1956, and the Dentists Act-1948 and other relevant and applicable Acts, as amended from time to time.

  • Candidates must ensure eligibility before applying.
  • Use a valid email ID and phone number for registration.
  • Upload scanned documents in the prescribed format.
  • The application fee must be paid before the deadline to avoid rejection.
  • Double-check details before submission to avoid errors.
  • Admit cards must be downloaded from the official NTA website once released.

Pattern of NEET (UG)- 2025

The NEET Exam Pattern 2025 follows the latest format, featuring a total of 180 questions which are all compulsory questions which have to be attempted by the candidate. The exam consists of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections, with a total of 720 marks. It is conducted offline, with a duration of 3 hours (180 Minutes). NEET UG 2025 Eligibility and Qualification

Eligibility to appear in NEET (UG) – 2025

Eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) is governed by relevant regulations and is outlined below:

  • Minimum Age Requirement: Candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete this age on or before December 31st of the year of their admission to the first year of Undergraduate Medical Courses.
  • Upper Age Limit: The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is set at 25 years as of the examination date. A relaxation of 5 years is granted for candidates belonging to the SC (Scheduled Caste), ST (Scheduled Tribe), OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer) Categories, and PwD (Persons with Disability) Candidates.
    NOTE: The upper age limit of 25 years has been a subject of legal challenge. As per interim orders from the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, candidates who are 25 years or above are provisionally permitted to appear in NEET-UG-2025. Their final candidature and admission will be subject to the outcome of these pending legal matters.

Accordingly, the Eligibility conditions regarding age limit have been revised as under:

Academic Qualification:

  • Mandatory Subjects: To be eligible for NEET (UG) - 2025, candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually in their qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent).
  • Minimum Aggregate Marks (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology):
    • For Unreserved (UR) and General-EWS Candidates: A minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination.
    • For Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), or Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) Candidates: The minimum aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology shall be 40%.
    • For Persons with Disability (PwD) Candidates: As per NMC, CCIM, and BoGCCH guidelines, the minimum aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (or Botany & Zoology)/Biotechnology shall be 45%.
  • Candidates with Foreign Education: Students who have received their education abroad and wish to seek admission to Medical colleges in India must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with 50% marks in their Class 12th equivalent examination. Their equivalency must be determined by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as per the regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.
  • Exclusion of Mathematics: Marks obtained in Mathematics are explicitly not to be considered for eligibility for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses.

Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats

  • General Eligibility: Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
  • Candidates from Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh:
    • Historically, the erstwhile State of J&K opted out of the All India Quota Scheme. Students from the UTs of J&K and Ladakh are generally not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats. If they claim eligibility, they are required to submit an online Self Declaration, which will be verified during counseling. False declarations will lead to cancellation of candidature and potential criminal proceedings.
    • The participation of the UT of J&K in the All India Quota is currently being considered by the UT administration, and a decision will be conveyed in due course. The UT of Ladakh does not have any medical colleges.
    • However, candidates from the UTs of J&K and Ladakh can appear in NEET (UG) 2025 for admission to Private Medical/ Dental/ Ayurveda/ Siddha/ Unani/ Homeopathy Colleges or any Private/Deemed University, as well as AFMC, AIIMS, and JIPMER, provided they fulfill the respective eligibility conditions for these institutions.

Important Note: For all other cases, states or institutes that have specific cut-off criteria for eligibility, different from those mentioned above, may follow their own established guidelines.

  • The pre-Medical course, as part of the eligibility, may be conducted either at a Medical College or at a Science College approved for such courses.
  • Candidate's eligibility for NEET (UG) – 2025 is purely provisional and is contingent upon fulfilling all eligibility criteria prescribed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOH & FW), Medical Council of India (MCI), National Medical Commission (NMC), Dental Council of India (DCI), National Testing Agency (NTA), Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Ministry of AYUSH (MOA), AYUSH Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC), Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), Board of Governors in Council for Central Homoeopathy (BoGCCH), or any other admitting institutions, as applicable.
  • In case of any ambiguity in the interpretation of instructions, terms, rules, or criteria regarding eligibility, conduct of examination, candidate registration, or contained information, the interpretation provided by the MOH & FW/ MCI/ NMC/ DCI/ NTA/ MCC/ Other admitting institution, as applicable, shall be final and binding.
  • The NEET (UG)–2025 Examination will be video-graphed. Candidates are required to maintain an upright head position and face the camera during videography to ensure clear identity establishment. By appearing for the exam, candidates agree to this videography.

NEET UG 2025 Registration Process

STEP-1: Online Registration at neet.nta.nic.in

  1. Enter candidate’s name, parent’s name, and Date of Birth as per Class 10 certificate.
  2. Provide a valid ID type and ID number.
  3. Use your own or a parent’s mobile number and email address for all communication.
  4. Provide your complete postal address with PIN codes (both correspondence and permanent).

STEP-2: Filling the Application Form

  • Most application particulars entered in Step-1 can be edited before final submission, except your mobile number and email address.
  • Category: Select your category from General, General-EWS, SC, ST, or OBC-NCL. You do not need to upload any caste certificate during online application; verification will happen during counseling.
  • Nationality: Choose from Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO), or Foreign Nationals.
  • PwD status: Indicate if you are a Person with Benchmark Disabilities. If claiming relaxation, you must upload a valid PwD certificate.
  • Choice of Examination cities: Select up to four cities of your preference for the examination. Center allotment is automated.
  • Medium of Question Paper:
    1. If you opt for English, you'll receive the Test Booklet in English only.
    2. If you opt for Hindi/Regional Language, you'll receive a Bilingual Test Booklet (in Hindi/Regional Language and English). The English version will be considered final in case of any translation ambiguity.
  • Academic Details (X, XI & XII): Fill in your complete academic details for Classes 10, 11, and 12/Qualifying Examination. Candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2025 should select qualifying code as 01.
  • Single Girl Child: This option is visible only for female candidates who are the only girl child in their family (without brothers or sisters). Twin daughters/fraternal daughters may also select this option.
  • Minority: If applicable, select your Minority Community (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi) as notified under the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
  • Details of Father/ Guardian/ Mother: Provide their occupation, income, and qualification.

Note:

  1. Only one application should be submitted by a candidate. Multiple submissions may lead to cancellation.
  2. Once finally submitted, particulars in certain specific fields can only be changed during the correction window. No further communication will be entertained after that.
  3. Registration is complete only if the fee has been transacted successfully. Otherwise, the form will be cancelled.
  4. You are not required to send/submit a hard copy of the Confirmation Page to the NTA office. However, it's advised to retain a hard copy of the Confirmation Page and proof of fee submission for future reference.
  5. Mere deduction of fee from your bank account is not proof of payment. The payment should be supported by an "OK" fee status and the generation of a Confirmation Page.

STEP-3: Upload Documents

Important: The same Passport size and Post Card size photographs must be used for uploading with the Online Application Form and for pasting on the Attendance Sheet at the Examination Centre/Counselling/Admission. Keep 6 to 8 passport size and 4 to 6 Post Card size (4”X6”) color photographs with white background. Uploading forged or incorrect images will lead to candidature cancellation and possible criminal action.

STEP-4: Payment of Application Fee

  • Remit the examination fee using Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, or Wallet through State Bank of India/Syndicate Bank/HDFC Bank/ICICI Bank/Paytm as service providers.
  • Pay applicable processing charges and GST (applicable @18%) per transaction.
  • Print the Confirmation page after successful payment. This confirms the final submission of your Application Form. If the Confirmation page is not generated, your application is incomplete and unsuccessful.

Final Reminders:

  • Print and save the Confirmation page and your fee receipt.
  • There is no need to send a hard copy of the Confirmation Page to the NTA office.
  • Keep extra copies of your photographs (6–8 passport size and 4–6 postcard size) for future needs.

Essential Points to Remember

  • Only download from the official NTA NEET website.
  • Verify all personal details, exam center, date, and time.

  • Carry a printed copy of your admit card and a valid photo ID (Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Passport, etc.) to the examination center.

NEET UG 2025: Unfair Means, Practices & Examination Rule Violations

Definition

Unfair means are activities that give a candidate an undue advantage in the NEET UG 2025 exam. These violate the integrity of the exam and include, but are not limited to:

  1. Possession of prohibited items such as electronic gadgets, notes, ornaments, eatables, or any unauthorized material.
  2. Impersonation or using pre-prepared answers, or getting someone else to write the exam.
  3. Disobeying exam rules or NTA-issued instructions at any stage of the examination process.
  4. Helping or receiving help from other candidates in any manner.
  5. Tampering with exam material—writing on unauthorized items, tearing pages, or altering OMR details.
  6. Communicating with anyone other than authorized exam personnel during the test.
  7. Taking the question paper or answer sheet out of the exam hall, partially or fully.
  8. Threatening candidates or staff involved in exam conduct.
  9. Using or attempting to use electronic devices after entering the exam center.
  10. Forgery or manipulation of online documents like admit card, rank letter, or self-declaration.
  11. Forceful or unauthorized entry/exit in/from the exam center.
  12. Uploading fake or incorrect photographs or signatures in the application.
  13. Erasing or modifying information printed on the OMR sheet.
  14. Giving incorrect personal or academic information in the answer sheet.
  15. Filing fake claims by altering OMR responses online before or after result declaration.
  16. Creating disturbances or hindering the smooth conduct of the examination.
  17. Any other malpractice categorized as unfair means by the NTA.

Punishment for Using Unfair Means Practices

If a candidate is found guilty of engaging in unfair means before, during, or after the NEET UG 2025 exam, they will be treated as a UFM (Unfair Means) case. The consequences include:

  • Debarment from appearing in NEET for the next 3 years.
  • Cancellation of the current year’s examination and results.
  • Potential criminal action and/or other disciplinary measures as deemed appropriate.

Cancellation of Result

The result of NEET UG 2025 will be cancelled and not declared if:

  • The candidate is caught using unfair means.
  • They appear at a center other than the one assigned.
  • They tamper with another candidate’s OMR sheet or allow someone else to do so with theirs.

Candidates appearing for NEET 2025 must be aware of the items strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Carrying any banned item may lead to disqualification. Candidates will be subjected to extensive and compulsory frisking before entering the Examination Centre with the help of highly sensitive metal detectors.

NOTE: No arrangement will be made at the Centers for keeping any articles/items belonging to the candidates. In case any candidate is found in possession of any of the barred items inside the Centre, it will be considered as use of Unfair Means and action will be taken against the candidate in accordance with the relevant provisions. Any applicable order of Hon’ble Supreme Court/High Courts will be followed in this regard.

NEET UG 2025 Dress Code

The NEET 2025 dress code, as outlined by the NTA, is designed to ensure fairness and security during the examination. Here are the key guidelines:

For Male Candidates:

  • Wear light-colored, half-sleeved shirts or T-shirts without big buttons, zippers, or embroidery.
  • Avoid full-sleeved shirts, kurtas, or pajamas.
  • Bottom wear should be trousers; jeans with heavy embroidery or patterns are not allowed.
  • Footwear should be slippers or sandals with low heels; shoes are not permitted.

For Female Candidates:

  • Wear light-colored, half-sleeved tops or salwar suits without heavy embroidery, patterns, or layers.
  • Avoid sarees, full-sleeved kurtis, or leggings.
  • Footwear should be slippers or sandals with low heels; shoes are not allowed.
  • Jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, and watches, is strictly prohibited.

General Guidelines:

  • Candidates wearing religious or customary attire (e.g., turbans, hijabs, burqas) must arrive at least an hour before the last reporting time (12:30 PM) for security checks and should declare this during the application process.
  • Avoid carrying any prohibited items like metallic accessories, brooches, or electronic devices.

The NTA believes in the sanctity and fairness of conducting the Examination, however, it also believes in the sensitivity involved in frisking (girl) candidates and will issue comprehensive instructions accordingly to the staff and other officials at the Examination Centers.

NEET UG 2025 Answer Key Released

NEET UG Result 2025 Declared

The NEET Result 2025 has been declared on 14th June, 2025. Candidates can check their scorecard by entering their application number, date of birth, and security PIN. NEET UG 2025 Re-Checking/re-evaluation of answer sheets

  • The machine–gradable Answer Sheets are evaluated with extreme care and are scrutinized.
  • There is no provision for re-checking/re-evaluation of the answer sheets. This is because of the following reasons:
  1. The OMRs are machine gradable which are being evaluated through specific software impartial to all.

NEET UG 2025 Merit List & Counselling Update

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released NEET UG 2025 results on June 14, 2025. Counselling for admissions to MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses is now underway, with important dates confirmed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Key Highlights:

    Merit List: NTA prepares the All India Merit List based on NEET UG 2025 scores and eligibility criteria set by the National Medical Commission (NMC), Dental Council of India (DCI), and other relevant bodies.

    15% All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling:

    • Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for MBBS/BDS courses, and the Ayush Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC) for AYUSH courses.
    • Round 1 registration began on July 21, 2025, and closes on July 28, 2025 (payment facility available till 3:00 PM on July 28).
    • Choice filling and locking can be done from July 22 to July 28, 2025 (choice locking from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM on July 28).
    • Seat allotment results for Round 1 are expected on July 31, 2025.
    • Reporting to allotted institutes is scheduled from August 1 to August 6, 2025.

    85% State Quota Counselling:

    • Conducted by respective State/UT counselling authorities (e.g., DME, State CET Cells).
    • Round 1 for state quota counselling is scheduled to begin from July 30, 2025.
    • States will draw their merit lists based on NEET All India Ranks and their specific rules and reservation policies.

    Eligibility: Candidates must meet minimum NEET percentile criteria (e.g., 50th for General, 40th for SC/ST/OBC) and 10+2 academic requirements (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually, with required aggregate percentages in PCB for different categories).

    Tie-Breaking: In case of equal scores, rank is determined by:

    1. Higher marks/percentile in Biology (Botany & Zoology).
    2. Higher marks/percentile in Chemistry.
    3. Less proportion of incorrect answers to correct answers in all subjects.
    4. Candidate older in age.

    Academic Session: Classes for the 2025 batch of undergraduate medical and dental courses are set to commence on September 1, 2025.
